The incident resulted in the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the multi-storey parking facility.

Formal charges have been brought against two men related to a luggage theft where a suspected capsaicin spray led to people being hurt at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two robbery charges and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, according to official statements.

This legal action stems from an probe of an assault at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two female travelers had their luggage taken after getting out of a parking garage elevator, according to law enforcement.

A young child was among those injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and were subsequently released.

The incident – described by police as was not part of a series and deemed non-terroristic – led to disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
