The President Calls Families of Injured National Guard Soldiers to the White House

President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Tragic Event

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a violent incident on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.

Presidential Offer

The president stated he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump informed journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Support

Attendees came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s national effort to aid public safety in the capital.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“She was the individual that educators wished for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always eager to help others.”

Service plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Government Adjustments

Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy prompted the Trump administration to halt asylum applications and halt granting entry permits to possessors of Afghan passports.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told a news show that she planned to speak to his relatives.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with distinction, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had bravery,” he informed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
