Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's natural for questions to be raised about his future after a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the club's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received significant support from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win obviously but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular discussions I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Response

Slot highlighted recurring failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a period like this with results like these.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to where it needs to be, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
