Rob Edwards as well as Gary O'Neil Included in Wolverhampton Wanderers Head Coach Candidates

Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil represent the initial names in the frame to replace the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on the weekend after the team's ten-game winless beginning to the top-flight campaign.

And both candidates - each of whom have previous associations to the team - are among the names to be evaluated by the club ownership.

Edwards is presently at another club, which would pose a possible hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton Town manager - who played over a century of games for the club during his time as a player - is considered a strong contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the club board as they begin the process of appointing a fresh manager.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise candidate, although he would be a shock choice considering he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.

The former West Ham United player is out of work meaning Wolves would not need to provide any compensation.
