An aircraft carrying Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was required to make an unscheduled landing in the Britain on Wednesday due to a fissure was discovered in the plane's windshield, per an announcement which confirmed that Hegseth was safe.

"The plane touched down following standard procedures and everyone onboard, including Secretary Hegseth, is secure," a spokesperson commented in a online announcement.

Hegseth was returning from a short visit to the Belgian capital at the time.

This event is not the initial instance that a US military aircraft carrying a senior official has encountered equipment failures.

Months ago, a US Air Force plane carrying the US Secretary of State to the German city of Munich was compelled to head back to the US capital after encountering a mechanical problem.
