Esteemed Performer Pat Finn, Famed For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.

The actor Pat Finn had a key role in the well-loved series The Middle.

US performer Finn, who appeared in popular television series like "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles, California on Monday having undergone cancer treatment beginning in 2022, as reported by media reports.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - only friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones said in a announcement.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".

A Prolific TV Career

His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous well-known programs, such as:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

He was most recognized for playing the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons between 2011 and 2018.

His film credits are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Beyond the Screen

Outside of his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was involved with a comedy group of six called "Beer Shark Mice".

"Finn guided, supported, and advised countless students over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote on social media.

The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
