Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday night. The fighter was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community had expressed sympathy for the star in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
